ก่อนหน้านี้มาดามได้เขียนบทความหนึ่งขึ้นมา เป็นเรื่องของการใช้ Slang ในเรื่อง 'sex' (กดอ่านได้ที่นี่) วันนี้มาดามก็ขอมาต่อกันที่เรื่อง slang อีกเช่นเคยค่ะ แต่เป็นสแลงที่สามารถใช้งานได้ในชีวิตประจำวันทั่วไป แต่ผู้อ่านก็ต้องเลือกใช้ให้ถูกกาลเทศะด้วยนะคะ 

 

 Props: การให้ความเคารพ, ให้ความยอมรับนับถือ (แทนการใช้คำว่า respect หรือ recognition)

- I give my mother props for waking up so early to prepare everybody's breakfast.

 

 Dig: คลั่งไคล้หรือชื่นชอบอะไรบางสิ่ง (แทนการใช้ว่า to do a task perfectly)

 Ace: สำเร็จลุล่วง (แทนการใช้ว่า perfectly and easily achieve something)

 Faffing: สูญเสียเวลาโดยเปล่าประโยชน์, ไม่ใช่เวลาให้เกิดประโยชน์ (แทนการใช้ว่า time wasting)

- Stop faffing around and finish your homework.

- My mother spent three hours faffaing at the mall.

 

 

 Splash out: ถลุงเงิน, ฟุ่มเฟือย, ใช้เงินเป็นน้ำ (แทนการใช้ว่า spend too much money)

- I have just splashed out on luxury furniture for my new aparment.

- She splashed out $10m for three New York condos.

 

 Kip: งีบหลับ (แทนการใช้ว่า nap)
